(More customer reviews)This product was a godsend until the heat sensor stopped working and I discovered that Evolve's customer service was awful.
The way this product works is that after the water heats up, a heat sensor turns the water off. Then you pull a chord to get the water flowing again. When the product breaks, it may not be possible to turn the water on again.
I've been using the showerhead for about a year. For the first six months or so the heat sensor worked perfectly. On a number of occasions, I couldn't get the chord to work after the water temperature had reached the heat threshold. But if I waited a little bit, I always got the showerhead working again. It was as if the sensor needed a little rest from hot water for it to start working again.
But in the last few weeks, the heat sensor and chord combination has completely stopped working. All that my shower head will do is drip water (the standard mode until the water temperature reaches the heat threshold).Stupidly, I threw away my old showerhead, so my wife and I have been forced to use the shower attached to my daughter's bedroom.Let me tell you, this is a BIG discomfort. That is, the Evolve shower head is great when it works, but when it causes a completely dysfunctional shower, it can cause a great annoyance.
I decided to call Evolve and inform them the product was broken and, as far as I knew, still under warranty.Turns out, Evolve doesn't take customer service very seriously.I called and got a happy voice recording and left a message for customer service to call me back. After some hours passed and I got no call back, I called back. This time I spoke to their customer service representative. She had a nice happy voice and we went over the ways a customer could cause an Evolve showerhead not to work(these are covered on Evolve's very simple F&Q, which I had already read). After I explained to her that these were not the cause of my problem and that the simplest explanation is that the heat sensor chip had stopped working, she promised to talk to an engineer and get back to me within a few hours. If the engineer thought my complaint was reasonable, Evolve would send me a replacement shower head. It's now more than 48 hours later and she has not done so and I have very little confidence that she will.
Admittedly, the Evolve shower head is quite inexpensive and it's no big deal to purchase a replacement showerhead.Let me note, too, that we have two Evolve showerheads, both purchased at the same time, and the second one works fine. But a dysfunctional shower is no small matter in a working family.Shame on Evolve for its awful service. As for the breakdown of its product, it never even occurred to me that such a thing could happen.I always thought of a showerhead as a mechanical device, not as a computer prone to breakdowns. Now I have learned my lesson.
